Linux Kernel Scalable Test Platform

07.02.2004 · Posted in Links

OSDL’s Scalable Test Platform provides a test framework in which to exercise Linux kernel builds. You can create and build patches through our Patch Lifecycle Manager and then use the STP framework to run your choice of performance and scalability tests.

STP loads your kernel patch and executes selected tests on a selected hardware platform. Platforms include 1, 2, 4, and 8 processor systems. The kernel patch is built against a stock kernel pulled from kernel.org.

The purpose behind the STP framework is to provide the open source community a variety of SMP platforms with which to perform testing against incremental changes to a particular element of the kernel. The system configurations remain stable, allowing meaningful comparisons to previous test runs.
